GeoPULSE develops a novel Earth Observation–based product for consistent mapping of geothermal surface manifestations by exploiting synergies between current and upcoming Sentinel missions, supporting energy transition by reducing cost and risk in early-stage geothermal exploration and expanding prospecting to underexplored regions, particularly in the Global South. The product integrates various methods of geothermal surface manifestation mapping, into a single product. The components include: thermal anomaly detection, hydrothermal alteration mapping, vegetation dynamics analysis, and land-cover contextualisation. The methodology is developed and validated in two contrasting geothermal settings: the Canary Islands (Spain) and the Greater Olkaria Region (Kenya), and is co-designed with Champion Users to ensure transferability, and applicability for geothermal exploration and resource development.
